I'm Back! New Workspace and Social Media Updates

A view from my glass-topped art desk in its new space. I use the glass as a palette!

Happy National Postal Worker Day and U.S. Postage Stamp Day. Did you know that the American Postal Service has been delivering for 250 years? And have you seen the new stamp set commemorating the 250th anniversary by artist Chris Ware?

I live just minutes from my wonderful local post office, and I truly appreciate all that the post office does as a service for the public. Let's hope they'll be around in another 250 years without being demolished and privatized.

Going Forward and Social Media

Anyway, I. Am. Back! Lots has happened in life since I last wrote to you, but don't worry, I won't bore you with all that. You're here for the stationery, art, and general love of creative work, am I right?

Well, that's all coming very soon! I intend to be active primarily on this blog, and maybe YouTube in the future, because I enjoy longform content. It's definitely way more fun to make!

As for social media, I've been off of it. Mostly because feeding the algorithm isn't very fulfilling, so it's a low priority.  Honestly, it's probably better that way for sanity's sake, but I do miss the community and seeing everyone's work. So, I intend to start sharing and participating in a smaller capacity than before. Is it a social media diet if you're trying to avoid brain rot and be present in real life?

You can find me on Instagram, Bluesky (which is new to me), and Reddit (also a new account). Please bear with me as I figure out which platforms are the most fun to be on! Let me know if you've got any tips.

New Workspace

In other exciting news, last weekend I moved my "studio" from the corner of my bedroom to a room that my partner was using as an office. We had been talking about it for a while, but the actual move was decided on a whim. Thursday night we brought it up and made the decision; Friday night we moved all the furniture!

It's the first time I've had a room dedicated just to (creative) work. I've always been in corners of rooms and while I tried to not let it stop me from making things, it's tons easier to focus when your environment encourages it. I forgot to take before and after pictures, but I do want to spend time seeing if the layout works before committing to putting up any decor. The space is currently divided into three separate workstations: art, planning/journaling, and computer/admin stuff. Most importantly, it still needs to be able to fit two overnight guests. Maybe I'll do a "studio tour" once I've tested the working practices. I'm under no illusion of it ever being considered "finished." Aren't working studios always a work-in-progress?

I adored reading posts and watching videos of people's studios and would love to write about the process of figuring out my own space too. The best post I came across while looking up inspiration and planning for a workspace was by My Giant Strawberry. It's great that she not only covers her history of spaces but also her process in designing with what you have.

I know this was mostly a housekeeping post, but I'm really looking forward to sharing new things with you from this new space!
